Post Ground Point MP IX

MP IX Engine Electronics Ground Point.

PSM shows it to be located at 6CN (LHD) ON UPPER CRANKCASE, RIGHT REAR.

I have not gone under the car yet to look for it as I would think "UPPER CRANKCASE" would mean somewhere around the V, fuel pressure Regulator or back of head on or close to the right side.

I hate it when I get stumped on simple stuff like this, please help!

Max,

On MY 83 (don't know if it has changed) I was able to clean and inspect it without even jacking. I am built like Normy.

Upper crankcase wouldn't be my description for the location though.

If you crawl, shimmy, or squeeze (which ever applies) under just behind the right front tire and look up and slightly towards the front you will see it. 13mm socket and you're set.

Thanks Mitch, I guess I'll put it up on ramps or stands. I not built like Normy a bit thicker around the Mid-Point.

An old thread, yes, I know, but I thought I'd update it since this is the first hit Google brought up for MP IX on a 928.

On my '88 S4, it's on the rear of the engine under the fuel pressure regulator (right next to the throttle cable pulley). Unless you have a pretty special wrench (maybe one of those with a flexible, ratcheting, closed end), you'll need to remove unbolt the FPR to gain access to the ground point mounting bolt.

Here is a picture that I saved showing the location of MP IX (and MP VIII).

Good pictures.

Doesn't apply to the 84 or earlier cars however.
Somewhat analogous grounds are located on two places on passenger side cam covers.
