>Neils, I like the "real" aspect of it.
Indeed, and that's a very good reason for someone to want you to think it's real, even if it's not
.
I'm not trying to start a flamewar, just trying to make sense of it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> .
If someone asked me to do something like this and said they wanted it real, I would (given the media) be inclined to ask if it makes any difference whether it is real or it just looks real? In the latter case, I could make it work quicker on a smaller budget -> less risk, more profit.
Besides, would it hurt Honda if the ad turned out not to be real after all? I doubt it, but it would create a lot of attention. Which seems to be all that matters in PR today.

Sorry to disapoint you people, but the making of it wasn't as 'pure' as they like to make out. This is my line of work and I personally know someone that worked on the tidying up of this ad, using - gasp! - computers!.
All the events are filmed and do happen in the 'real world'. Quite a few of the after effects of events are fiddled with, to not show components rolling off screen, for example. The ad was composed of three main shots joined together, rather than in one take. The major piece of digital fiddling is on the car at the end of the ad where they had filmed it with the wrong wheels, which needed replaced with the correct ones. And the speakers under the glass windscreen are computer 3D models.
Nothing too much, but definetly not as advertised.
Cheers
Dave
