Default Antenna recommendation?

I'm having my windshield replace this coming Friday, and the new 'shield doesn't have a built-in antenna. Any recommendations? Many thanks!

Martin...I wanted to ask the same question, but you beat me to the punch. I'm guessing we have 3 types of options:

1. Standard antenna that exits from the rear fender.
2. Roof mounted version (like the GTS).
3. Shark fin type found on the BMWs.

For me, option # 1 is out of the question. Number 2 is the "safe" choice...in the sense that many 928 owners have done this and the results are very nice. I like option 3, but I don't want it to look...cheap.

Regards,
Roger

Thanks- the Shark Fin is just what I'm looking for. Questions: how's FM reception? and do you use a signal preamp? Thanks again!

I wish that I could vouch for it's performance but I haven't come to the part of my restoration yet where I reinstall my radio but it looks to be very solidly made and there is a power plug on the antenna itself which I think has to be a built in amp.

I have no antenna. XM plugged straight in to radio. Can't stand commercial radio anymore. You can put XM straight into the FM ant. plug on the back fo the radio if it doesn't have a mini jack or RCA in. No commercials on most channels and much better selection.

Honestly, regular radio...?

I have the same issue. My new 86.5's windshield was broken by a detail guy before I bought it. They put in a non-antenna (Sigla, at least).

I think one of these would be OK. The smaller ones might even fit in the third brake light housing - that's where Keith (928ntslow) put his satellite antennas = slick.

Re: Regular radio? Yep- really retro!

Ken- those antennae look interesting- source? I'm going to be calling SkyYear Monday to see what's up with their stuff- site hasn't been updated in a while. I'll post results.
