This is the closest engine shot I have of Dennis's car. It sparkles even from this distance.

Michael: your car looks great and appears to be in stock form. Dennis's car has some upgrades, including 3-piece wheels, Euro cams, rising rate fuel pressure regulator, Borla exhaust and some other goodies. Overall, he's bumped the horsepower up to the level of an '85-86.

No doubt he has a great looking car.I have thought about new rims as I hate the Weissach wheels on the car.Other than exhaust and shocks mine is pretty much as it came from the factory.

Cool

Mikey- do you have the Weissach dash plaque? Dennis does- his car was there in the fog with not only the decried 3 piece wheels....but he had the luggage in his trunk-

N!
'85 S2 5 Speed

PS: I posed the question to Dennis at SITM about copying the luggage and having some company do them in either leather or vinyl....or perhaps Gore-Tex.

Since I fly to Korea all the time, I have a perfectly fitted leather jacket. Not a small thing- my person has a 40 inch chest with a 28 inch waist [You have no idea how hard is is for me to buy jeans~] and a 34 inch inseam. I discovered that the shop that did the leather jacket also did nylon/leather work in general. I asked Dennis to measure his luggage...if I get the measurements, I can have then produce luggage.

I do not have the plaque. Not sure if it came with one when it was new.I do have a copy of a letter from Porsche stating it is a Weissach as I guess someone before me had questioned it's status since there was no dash emblem on the car.As far as the luggage I don't think I'd be interested in copying the luggage.I keep hoping to find an original set but that is probably unlikely.I'm sure I'll find a set after the car is sold..lol.

Darren,
Sorry about being late to respond to this post.I will have pic's to post in a few days.

Mikey,
Yours looks pretty good in thr pic's.All the weissachs came with a numbered dash plaque and the luggage ,its my understanding that most people that ordered theirs got the luggage but I have been told that most of the cars were shipped to dealers who sold them as new stock, thus keeping the luggage for there own.

thanks to all,

Dennis

Dennis:

I spent some time cleaning my engine bay this weekend (finally). I just need to get some pointers from you to get that showroom look (seems impossible to get there from here!).

Dave,
First you have to have a shrine built around your car. Then you have to spend the winter months with a tooth brush detailing the car. During the summer you have to touch up every other day.

Of the old sharks, Dennis has one among no other. We may clean or oldies, but his has never been in need of attention as ours have been. Of the 205 cars that were made I would like to know if there is another out there with all of the items that it was supposed to have i.e. luggage, dash plaque, and documentation. Mikey even offered his first born for the set of luggage, this must confirm the value that these have with the car. It is for this reason that I would believe that his car maintains such a prestige value.

Hey I was just kidding about the firstborn.Yes...I'll be the first to admit though..I'd really like to have a set of the luggage but no biggie if I don't ever find a set.The car I have is in pristine condition...maybe one day someone from Rennlist can vouch for that.I'm happy having the car as it is...with or without the luggage or plaque.Mikey and I talked about hitting the shark meet in the mountains...but quite frankly was not worth the risk of damage.Hopefully one day I will have a 928 I can play with daily without fear of a ding or stone chip appearing.

Mikey,
Don't get me wrong, I am sure that your car is in excellent condition. The question that started this thread was about Dennis's Weissach. If your Weissach is missing some of the original items, then when evaluated next to another Weissach, you might be far ahead. However when you are next to a car that had all of the original signature items such as the luggage and dash plaque and is in the same condition as yours, you will be standing short handed. From what I am hearing there are vary few of these cars remaining, to the point you can could them with the fingers on one hand.

Ell,I was just replying to your statement that "you did not believe there was another car out there in such prestige showroom condition".There is...I'm well aware of values placed by some on items that went with the car.I wonder how many on here have the factory pull down back cover?

Mikey:

What are you doing July 11-13th? Our merry band of 928 owners in Michigan is having a big picnic, and anyone who wants to come is invited.

Dennis will be there with his Weissach....just an exhibition, not a competition <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" />

The top portion that really does the covering is sun-bleached and the electicized fabric is so fatigued that its shreaded. BUT, all the hardware is there and the rest of the fabric is fine, even has what I assume is original color. I had planned to use the good fabric to find a match and "rebuid" the shreaded part. Now, I want to buy a condo and need to sell the car.

The cover is for sale - mighty expensive - and comes with a car!
