Pete. My searches have found that Genuine Honda Coolant is best for me and all my aluminum motor Vehicles. First it was developed specially for aluminum components is non-Silicate/non-Borate / phosphate free and will give you up to3 years of protection . It was developed for honda to exceed the performance of other brands like prestone, and zerex . They say they are aluminum friendly.. It 's Ethlyene Glycol based and is best used with Spring Water. You don't need and should not use distilled water .. that is for batteries. Only would you use distilled water if your coolant is silicon based and you dont want the silicone to come out of solution over time. Honda coolant is silicon free so this does not apply. Distilled water is mineral free and so it will look for metal in your vehicle to obtain a chemical equilibrium. ex. pin hole leaks in the the radiator etc.

Hi,
The coolant management issue is a complex one

Ed - you are correct

The Porsche Engineers specced it correctly - and good maintenance to their parameters is critical

Nobody mentions nitrate/nitrites and etc - yet in coolant system management programmes these along with glycol levels are critical elements
to monitor

As for water, - distilled water or de-ionised water is always preferred. Use of this type of water goes a long way towards eliminating: chlorides, sulphates, magnesium and calcium and etc. These can cause scale/sludge deposits or corrosion and lead to water pump failure

There are a number of types of Glycol ( Ethylene, Propylene etc )too.

So keep it simple as Ed suggests - the old KISS formula

The Castrol I mentioned earlier in here is Nitrate,Silicate and Phosphate free!

Regards
