Default Barrier hoses for AC...long...

Here's one for the UK crew...

On my on going campaign to restore my S4 back to 'tiptop' condition I've started to think about all those hoses running around the engine bay and having to replace / recondition them before the engine returns to it's rightful place.

This leads me to the question of aircon...The system in the car was non-functional when I acquired it (well it worked for a few days) so I assumed a leak was happening somewhere, but seeing the garage I bought the car from replaced the condenser before I drove it it's probably not leaking from there. Said with wavering conviction...

Anyhow, before I started seriously looking over the internet about R12 and R134a refrigerants, and the problems associated with old hoses and leaking gases, I ordered new hoses (from the dealership) to run from the compressor to the condenser and from the return pipe to the compressor. Are these hoses likely to be barrier hose seeing they were manufactured in 2004??? The chaps at the dealership are hesitating to comment...so is there a visual way of checking???

Seeing that R12 is now illegal in the UK for automotive purposes, I guess I would have to get the hoses remanufactured with new barrier hoses if they aren't already.

My real problem is the hose / pipe the runs from the condenser to evaporator, part no 927 573 093 09 in pet (well it is RHD), is NLA from Porsche and I can't seem to find a good hose remanufacturing company in the southwest of the UK.

So firstly, does anyone know of said company...one that they can recommend from past experience? Seeing that one small blunder and I'm left hose-less.

Secondly, assuming the hoses I've got (new and old) are okay and it's really the compressor that's leaking does anyone know of a company that can overhaul the compressor or at least sells the seal / gasket kit i it (I believe its the 6e171 nippondenso compressor)

Like I said one for the UK crew...

Cheers

Martin
