central shaft or bearing could be bent)??)
morning folks,
I went down to drop the engine back in last night, only to find the
central shaft (the 6 inch splined rod where the clutch all sits)
was out of whack, by a couple of millimetres. i think it must have
occured when i was mounting the engine on the stand, i never removed
the shaft, as it was jammed tight into the release bearing.
now, i've been racking my brains all night trying to figure out if
the engine were to be reinstalledd, if it would straighten the shaft
itself, or whether it would just make toast of the gearbox etc, with
the vibrations...
the shaft only goes into the bearing about 15mm as i see it. i guess
i should replace the bearing at the least, and check the shaft for
trueness. can this just be pulled out, or do i need to remove the
10mm Torx head screws holding the flywheel on? in the PET i see a
little circlip in the back somewhere...
anyone whose been theres info, would be greatly appreciated.
regards,
Gareth
