I also carry a nylon tow rope with hooks on both ends, a small roll of safety wire and a small (6-8 feet) of nylon string. The string and wire have allowed me to repair a torn nose bra on several occasions. Also a roll of red reflective tape to repair a damaged or missing tail light. A bulb for the tail and brake lights, misc. fuses and the jumper for relays that NJShark Fan mentioned, and a couple of railroad flares.

Well I didn't see spare fuses & bulbs in there anywhere - there aren't so many different of each - so I recommend at least one of each external bulb and 5 of each fuse value

A made up jumper lead and mini voltmeter are often useful too as others noted.

Jim - good plan - always nice to be able to help out with the bra repairs...

Great thread and some good tips.

Being a cleaning nut (I know a few other acronyms) I would add a small bottle of quick detail spray and a couple of microfibers for those bird bombs.

Rejex is good for bugs and bird droppings. Just let the dropping sit there and dry and then flick it completely off with your finger. Crap-be-gone it should be called.

To add to that:
Aside from the physical tools/parts, specific troubleshooting knowledge is one of the things that I often need when I find myself on the side of the road.
For instance I got a crash course on diagnosing 'limp home mode' after experiencing the symptoms & calling Dave Roberts. He was a huge help as I sat on the side of the road wondering if I could do anything to get out of limp home, or if I could even drive it that way.

I could have had all the right things in my kit, but if I hadn't been able to reach Dave that day, I probably would have been on a rollback. Thing is, being able to reach somebody who can troubleshoot a problem (particularly electrical) is a crapshoot particularly if you're on the side of the road on a weekend @ 10 at night.
One informational thing that I have is a printout from Rich @ electronikrepair that has a relay location chart and has a step-by-step of what to troubleshoot in a 'no-start' situation. It takes up as much room as a single piece of paper.
Having a spare relay is great, so long as you know what to do with it.

Funny. I have diaper wipes for blowouts as well. Not for my little ones, but for myself if I get hit sitting at a light or break a timing belt.

Wait - I can't be the only person that still has the factory PORSCHE-logo bag that came with the car for this purpose...

The only two tools you need are a can of WD-40 and duct tape:
If something is supposed to move and doesn't, use the WD-40.
If it's not supposed to move and does, use the tape.

But seriously folks... I'll add the following:
This is truly a great thread - useful information for all shark owners, and proof-positive that Ron is nuts!

yea, but who'll be eating his words if the bad people hit us again and Ron's the only guy on Rennlist who's got enough supplies in his 928 to live in his garage for 3 months?

I have a cheap Class B and Class C automotive fire extinguisher in my shark cockpit. Fits in the driver-side armrest snugly, and I have a cheap automatic fire extinguisher in the engine bay, both shown here: https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...29#post5867029

Also wrapped a small can of starter fluid in a towel and stored it behind my toolkit...and did the same with a new can of fix-a-flat and a fresh roll of heater hose and duct tape. I need to add a tire plug kit (they're small and cheap). Also needed is plain electrical wire.

Added a small Red Cross "Rechargeable Battery Charger" model ARC1011 to the glove box: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000W33WU0?...0&linkCode=asn

I've actually got room for it behind the center console tunnel underneath my CD player...as it is small (but supplies 300 total Amps in charging times varying from 10 minutes to 40 minutes via your cigarette lighter). So maybe I'll move it there one day.

I wonder if companies are using recycled NiCad cell phone batteries to make these things now? Anyway, it was just $24 at Wal-Mart.

Also in my glove box is a flashlight, fuses, one spare relay, and fuse/relay chart.

Then I put a $10 first aid kit into the rear armrest compartment. You just never know. Anyway, it should add a little sound dampening as a free side-benefit.
