I've been reading up on some of the old posts about disconnecting the battery to reset the brain.
I recently replaced the ignition wires, coils, caps, and rotor arms on my car. Straight after I had done this I replaced the battery. Since then I have had a distinct hesitation when pushing the throttle hard in top gear at around 60mph (2300rpm ish). If I accelerate through the gears, no problem.
When I put the new battery in I just started the car and ran it, but I see from the posts I should have let it idle for 10 minutes. I also read that the discoonected positive lead should be touched against the disconnected negative lead to discharge everything - but I'm a bit worried about doing this - electrics scare me a tad and I don't ewant the alarm to go mental !!!
If I do this now will it help ? Or is it something else ?? - I've checked all the ignition wires and I'm convinced they are connected ok.
any help is most welcome.
thanks

I would never touch the negative lead to the positive lead. I would be curious as to why or who would post to do that with the leads. I can understand why to leave the battery leads disconnected for ten plus minutes. This would let the memory be cleared.

1st, touching the disconnected positive lead to the disconnected ground lead will not cause any problem. The electrons flow from the battery. I do not know why this was recommended, the only thing that I can think of is that they are requiring that any capacitors in the system be drained. Capacitors store energy.
