Jay,
You Slum Lord's are all alike... .
Iantdopps,
Rules ... Contracts ... Money...
The 'contract' is binding. That's life.
The apartment owners/managers do not want the expense of fumigation, serious cleaning expenses.
Though you could argue that Jim Bob and his darlin' Mary Lou with the three, lice infested, rugrats are nastier than any bug-eyed, prancing , piddle on the floor when you ring the doorbell yip yap dog.
Society, it would appear, can tolerate arguing parents, and squalling babies with dirty faces, head lice, and full diapers more than pets.
It's a bummer but it is their property you are just borrowing it for a fee.
Lease a home with a buy option and no pet clause.

Well from what I know from apartments and landlords is that there normally is a pet deposit and if not following the contract which you signed to live in your apartment you are therefore giving up that contract and by all means the landlord can evict you. Like others have said it is a long and money envolved process. I would talk face to face with them about the situation instead of letters or that, just be nice don't yell and fight that never helps. When I went to Bowling Green during college my friends and I had an apartment every friday we had a party of more than 50 people during one winter we decided to have a beach party. we got a small kids pool and a bunch of garbage bags and over 400 lbs of sand filled the floor with the sand and bags and placed the pool in the living room filled with ice and kegs. by the end of the night people were jumping in the pool and it cracked. We had to get rid of it so a bunch of us tried to pick it up (drunk remind you) and it sliped out of our hands spilling all the water into the kitchen in a tidal wave taking with it about 50 lbs of sand into the cabinets, fridge & stove. Our landlord told us to pay for all new stuff about 2500 dollars worth. By the end we have never payed for it we are just not allowed to live there ever again. Sometimes the landlords just give up, it was a jerk move on our part but it was college and that only comes once in your life. haha good luck

Well...I will bring a digital camera home this weekend and see if I can get a picture. If I do that, is it going to turn into one of those 944 best wife contests? If so, the only legal advice we will need is from a divorce lawyer!!
