My 79 came equiped with the driver controlled headlight adjustment system. It has the **** to the left of the drivers seat along with some plastic tubing that runs ???? The headlights still have the adjusters at the bottom of each headlight but where is the control motor or whatever that operates them. Obviously it has been removed but where would it be if it were still installed. It looks as if it could have been mounted to the inside of the drivers fender near where the coil and the two resistors are mounted. There is an empty space there that has a couple of taped holes that are empty.
Also, I cant find anything about this system in any of the books or manuals I have. Does anyone have a schematic of this system or have parts for this system.
Having tons of free time and having nothing else better to work on I would love to see if I could get this system back to operational. I think it would add even more uniqueness to my euro 79.
Thanks for any information.

I have this system too, and I agree it would be cool to restore this original aspect of the Euro's. I haven't done much research on it yet (I wish I had nothing else to work on), but do you know for a fact that there was a separate motor and not just a "fine adjustment" on the main motor? It would be interesting to hear if anyone still has theirs working.
I have actually been looking at converting my mercedes headlights to euro. The procedure that I have found shows the headlights to be vacuum actuated. The vacuum hookup is to work off of engine vacuum, and the procedure indicates this to be as original (euro). The case may be the same for your euro928.
The system is hydraulic and fully contained in the switch inside, lines, and actuators at the headlights.
Basically, turning the switch forces the fluid to and from the headlight adjusters and raises/lowers them 3 degrees. The reason behind the system is to lower those Euro-spec H4's when you have a full load in the car so they don't blind oncoming traffic.
Someone had figured out what type of fluid works, I think it was P/S fluid; should be able to do a search and find it. I believe the later cars (S4+) used an elec. system instead of the fluid.

I understand that this system uses some sort of silicon fluid and vacuum to operate the servos in the headlights.
Check the hoses with a vacuum tester to make sure all the connections are made. Find some silicon fluid...
[Your guess is good as mine! Can't be THAT exotic]
And charge the system. I couldn't find anything in the manuals when I went to get mine working a few years ago.
Normy!
