Post power loss over 3K rpm

My car has been driving like a champ, until yesterday. I was driving under high load (5500K rpm), and something gave... power loss. It drives relatively normal under 3K, but over, it wanes and won't free rev.
Recent motor work: new gaskets and hoses from the heads up, new cap/rotor/wires, tbelt, water pump.

I'm just curious if anyone has experiences something similar?

Unless it is an easy fix (highly doubt it), I will start with the basics.
1) Fuel rail pressure
2) Fuel pressure regs - How to check it??
3) TPS, check connections
4) Ignition/check plugs - what is the best way to check for spark?
5) Check all the hoses - Could have a vaccuum issue?

Any insight is much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Jim,
Sorry to hear about the problem with your car. How many miles since the rebuild ! Has the T belt tension been checked since installation ?

Is your " '84 Euro S" the twin distributor 16v engine ?

Maybe an exhaust system problem? Perhaps an obstruction caused by some rotted baffle that shifted?

I'd check the fuel filter first.
