I took another look at the car before I headed off for work. It's been sitting in the same spot for 4 days now and the scaling is on the bottom of the wheel. My father talked to the mechanic and the dealer said that a mechanic put new axle shafts on and CV joints. Now would this be of any significance to this vibration problem over 75 mph????

Many years back in Gernany I owned a Renault Fuego that was very popular with the martens. For some reason, these little weasel like animals loved the taste of the CV joints, and kept destroying them during cold winter nights. When the grease hit the brake hoses, it softened them in a way that the car pulled to the side quite hard.
So whenever the CV was damaged, I had to replace the (rubber) brake line to the wheel as well. I'm not sure, if the tires could be affected from this grease as well, but given they are rubber, and they might have been sitting in a puddle of grease for a while....

I bet if your husband is a car buff he's very happy to have a wife that knows how to change CVs and identify bent rims or not
Anywho...I pulled both wheels off tonight with my father and we have the car on jackstands. The wheels are going in tomorrow to get checked for any bends. If they are, the dealer assumes responsibility for replacement due to the neglegence of their 'safety inspection,' which seemed to have overlooked the fact that the driver's side rear rim has MARS on the side indicating that the car was possibly riding on a flat! <img src="graemlins/oops.gif" border="0" alt="[oops]" />
But if God's sheep also includes Porsches then I'll be one lucky owner if that rim isn't bent..

Yes, I was just married to Normy on this board tonight - even though I have never met him in person, and we were never asked to say the "I do". Well, at least I won't have to fight over ethics and pollution with him... ;-)
No, I would not replace a CV boot myself - I've gone as far as watching it. As soon as it gets greasy it's not for me anymore!
But I did prep the Fuego for a repaint - before I left my job in the office of a body/paint/mechanics shop and moved on to go to college.

I would try to help, but I'm uncomfortable duscussing speeds of "75 mph all the way to 100".
This sort of illegal activity could be read by some and reported to authorities as discussing illegal activities online. (see the repair manuals post)
SO I won't discuss it.
Uh, maybe I just did discuss it.
