Engine Rebuild Question
At this time it is just a dream, but next spring is when I may get started. Just trolling for ideas!
Thanks,

).Now if this means stroking the engine, super charging, turbo's, new heads, head work Fine. I am looking for serious on the spot guidance. Just need some of the gurus to help with the knowledge. I know budget budget budget. I am looking at dropping maybe $4-6,000 in the engine during the winter. Maybe more during the spring, if needed. Not looking to make the fastest thing in the world. But quick enough to smile.
I have a spare '85 engine to work with from the donor shark I have. I think this will make it easier to work with. So, I can work on the engine and not worry about pulling mine till the new power is ready to be installed.
Secondly, Since I am not looking to go 160 MPH, is it s good idea to start thinking about different gears for the rear end? Not sure to look at the engine build, then the rear or reverse. I will be driving on the streets and highways.

The conversion job itself was a lot of fun and very rewarding.
Just something else to consider.

In that process, I was starting to think about some engine mods. I would prefer not to turbocharge or supercharge, but I would like a bit more power and/or displacement. Are there some routes that people have taken and would be willing to share?

The last that I heard, it was making 480 hp and 520 ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheels, with a totally stock exhaust system. I guess it's getting headers and a free flowing dual 3" exhaust on it soon.
One piece of advice I can give is to do the gear change last, if at all. Depending on what you end up doing with the engine, even the gearing that you have now may give you much more wheelspin than you'd want.

Their torque tube converter bolts right up to the SBC flywheel.
Its a 94 LT1 which is Fuel Injected and has a flashable chip. The Porsche system comes out intact and the GM system goes right in its place.

Did you purchase a converter kit for the sbc? Which bits went away & how do the flywheel/FI connect (or is that a carb engine)?

Has anybody gone this route with any results that I could look at, i.e dyno numbers? How about the DEVEK stroker kit, any testimonials? When I do this, I plan on replacing the lower block, as the PO's mechanic dropped it off the hoist and cracked one of the alternator mounts on the block, forcing me to JB weld the mess. Yes, my PPI mechanic missed that one, too! <img src="graemlins/cussing.gif" border="0" alt="[grrrrrrr]" />
