Spark from ground cable
I moved my amp's ground to another location to eliminate an audio noise interference from the alternator. For those of you who read my audio thread, moving the ground worked. Now I am getting a spark from the wing nut of the rear ground cable to a nut and bolt near the rear wiper. This only occurs when I engage the starter. I've adjusted the wing nut around and still get it. This could have been preexisting since I this is the first time I have started the car with the tool kit off. What the heck?

you have a poor ground contact ..take off the wing nut and ground cable from the body and sand off the corrosion which is probably there . electricity always takes the path of least resistance . Make it easy for it to travel through the ground cable into the body and it will not be jumping around . If it does not get better POSSIBLY the ground strap is breaking down but that is rare .
Thanks Jim. I had already cleaned it but apparently not well enough. That did it. I suspect this caused the audio noise I had. Is it safe to ground the amp to the same ground as the battery? Thanks in advance.

One thing to check is the ground cable covering where it bends around under the battery box cover. On mine it had cracked and which meant some power was still there with the wing nut disconnected. It put on a nice display at times.
