Post torquing front ball joints

How on earth do I get a socket AND a torque wrench on the lower joint nut? Is a special wrench needed here? I cant get a 3/8 drive wrench on it much less a 1/2" unit. I just had to do it up TIGHTLY, and hope.

TIA,
JP

That should be fine - it's not a really torque-critical installation.

You could get/make a special extension wrench, but it isn't worth it.

get a straight crowsfoot extension (not a flare nut extension) and adjust your torque value (reduce) for the increase in length of the effective lever. i have a formula if you need it. as i recall, pooch makes those new locknuts 18mm. hello napa?

Okay, thanks for the reassurance. The thing that worried me some was these are the first such joints I have encountered that did not use castellated nuts and split pins, so the torque became a bit more important to me.

Thanks,
jp
