Post Off Topic - Medical Alert

This is way off topic but it is of a serious nature to you and your loved ones, please take the time to read.

I recieved this from a friend of mine - I checked it out and unfortunately, it's true.

Subject: Medicine alert

>
All drugs containing PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE are being recalled. You may want to try calling the 800 number listed on most drug boxes and inquire about a REFUND.
Please read this CAREFULLY. Also, please pass this on to everyone you know.
STOP TAKING anything containing this ingredient. It has been linked to increased hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in brain) among women ages 18-49 in the three days after starting use of medication. Problems were not found in men, but the FDA recommended that everyone (even children) seek alternative medicine.

They are asking you to call them at 800-548-3708 with
the lot number on the box so they can send you postage for you to send it back to them, and they will also issue you a refund.
If you know of anyone else with small children, PLEASE PASS THIS ON.

DO PASS ALONG TO ALL ON YOUR MAILING LIST so people are informed.
They can then pass it along to their families.

Please, I don't want to cause a panic or cause any undue stress to anyone. This may be an old alert (I guess) and please take it for what it's worth.

Thanks. I've heard there was a problem and I thought it was strange these medications were still being offered in stores.

You might want to go to

<a href="http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/ppa/default.htm" target="_blank">http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/ppa/default.htm</a>

and read it before you panic. The FDA alert was in 2000!

Alka-Seltzer Cold Plus has already removed this drug in their "New Improved Formula". But I'll check the rest of the drugs in the cabinet to be sure.

Thanks

Wally,
Thanks for the UPDATE(?).
All our cabinet drugs were clean, but I did notice carnuba wax in the Triaminic Softchews, Cold and Cough tablets.
I went thru my set of Army, Task Force 160 Deployment bags.
I'm still ready!
Noticed a lot of over the counter cold stuff and some Alka Seltzer with the product, all outdated by years... Trash.
I'll post both prints at work. Lot of kids.
