Question Counter for o2 system

I figure my o2 sensor is probly bad since when I opened the compartment up it was unplugged. Not sure when it was unplugged or for what reason.
Do I plug it back in?
What else do I need to do or do I need to?

Signed, Dazed and Confused

shove a stripped wire into the connector as you reconnect it. Attach the other end of the wire to a voltmeter positive lead and the black lead of the voltmeter to ground.

You will be able to measure "on the fly" the O2 sensor output. It takes a minute to warm up then you should read from 0 volts (lean) to 1 volt (rich) where .5 volts is optimum.

If this does not occur, you have a problem with the sensor.

The car should run much better (unless there are other problems too).

The sensor probably isn't bad because it was unplugged. It really doesn't care. If it is old it may be bad.

the counter just counts has nothing to do with the O 2 sensor at all . Every 60,000 miles it pops up the light period . The O2 sensor is a wire under the console should be green it runs over near the fuses and plugs into the injection harness as it passes through the firewall . if you wish to test it you must do so at that connector .

Jack, I had to unplug my OXS counter as well. there is a small button recessed next to the plug labelled OXS. pressing that button is supposed to reset the 60k miles counter. Mine does not. I've been told the counter is mechanical and when it is connected you can hear mine clicking sensitive with speed (not RPM). Unplugging it klled the OXS warning light and stopped the clicking.

KB,
Did you press with a ball point?
My button pushed in -could feel return spring pressure- but did not reset.
I used a ball point and FELT the reset click.
Try it.
