Central door lock problems

Ok everyone and especially Dan 
and Allen MY DOORS ARE WORKING
Here's the problems I had along the way. The door power wires were crossed, the passenger side actuator was out of adjustment, passenger side pin switch was bad, the plug on the driver side actuator was loose, and to top it off the fuses looked good but actually one was bad. Not sure exactly what happened with the fuses I know I checked power at them but I guess I just checked for power at the supply side but not the receiving side. They looked good so I assumed they were good since I saw power on the supply side. Once again the RENN brotherhood comes through and saves the day. You guys ROCK
It's so nice to have my doors working! Now I can get my door panels back on
One last question for you experts. Grasshopper wants to know if I can tap in to the central door system at the central unit and use my aftermarket alarm to actuate the door locks open/close? If this will work everything will be right in the world

I believe you can do this but here are some caveats:
There really is no central unit...
You need positive outputs (or negative outputs & relays).
You need the right length locking pulses (not too long )
You need to connect to the Yellow & Green/Black wires

On an '81 you shouldn't have one - as far as I know...?
Do you have a central lock button on the console? if not there is no reason for any central module...
Why do you think its related to central locking - did you trace the wiring? does it make any difference if you unplug it?

I'll try unplugging it. Someone on here told me that's what it was. No I do not have a central lock button(Wish I did). The larger than normal black relay is inside the center console on the floor. Jason

It is not the alarm box. The alarm box is located in a very difficult spot for obvious reasons. I believe the older cars did have a controller even without the button. The 80 might not have a control box for the locks, but I think the some of the others did.
You can get a button and wire it in. The unit just pops out of the center console. But you will have to make a harness. Probably be more effort than you gain.
Check the control box you found for the same color wires that run to and from the locks. I beleive one will be yellow or green or blue. It has been a time since I was in there. Check your wiring diagrams in the manual.
A remote is the only way to go. Get a good one and it will lock the doors a little bit after you start the engine and unlock them when you shut the engine off. This is how mine works. I also have a remote window winder. it automatically rolls up the windows when you lock the car. There is a timer to allow a jog down to keep the car cool. The side benefit is I get one touch window switches too. Another button on the remote unlocks the trunk.
These are all easy features to add.

I do not know. One picture shows the bulb management system as being under the center console, but this little goodie is generally bolted to the end of the passenger lower tray. On early cars maybe it is under the console.
What kind of plug is connected to it and what are color are the wires.

I think my bulb management box is mounted above my fuse panel. I asked about this relay in another forum and someone said it was the buzzer. If it is then that's another thing that doesn't work on my ebay wonder car. Jason

Does it have holes in the top of the can? if yes its the buzzer - types & numbers varied over the years (last few digits).
