it ties into the AIR boxed rocker that runs along the rocker panel and yes it leaves a two inch wide air gap out from the front edge of the doors which vents the fenders I will fit some mesh to control flying debris... Now that I KNOW I can pass the physical for racing I have some incentive to get back on this project.... . I think I will pull the cardboard boxes off of it and the spare dog crates and roll it out into the driveway this weekend ! Just have to move the 02 Boxster out of the way..

I can't think of anything that you can do to a 928 that adds more value to the car than it costs doing, other than parting it out.

Now.. back to answering the OP's question..

Supercharging an early OB sounds like fun to me.. The 450+ hp one you've heard about is presumably the 16psi boosted monster that Enzo has going in this thread here:

OK ..."I can't think of anything that you can do to a 928 that adds more value to the car than it costs doing, other than parting it out." How about 78 blows a timing belt and will not run. Sell it not running or put on a timing belt ? A $12 relay keeps your S-4 from running ...sell it as is or FIX IT. Now "updates" and "improvements" most of that is pissed away just for the fun of it Because you WANT too.

These are hobbies. They never make sense from a financial standpoint.

Where's the project and where do we start??!!

Ok hobby...online dictionary "enjoyable activity: an activity engaged in for pleasure and relaxation during spare time". For many the hobby might be driving the car and some of the needed repairs at times do not add much pleasure and relaxation !

Sawsall blades for cutting metal $16.93
Custom spoiler for early model 928 $345.00
GoJo hand cleaner gallon size $12.99
Belt driven air pump to provide 78 V8 with positive intake pressure $5,600
Seeing your cell phone light up with a call from your wife at home seconds after you and your son do the first burnout at the end of the street. Priceless...

I think it is a great idea. Just be gentle with her and show her some respect.

Great ,go for it . You will have a one of a kind when done. $ should not be the issue . It it is such a bad idea to totally re do a car there would be no Unique Wips or cut chop rebuild projects. Thats what takes cars from transporation to hobbies. JUST MY .02

Might I recommend an '82 5spd which already has a widebody/GTS kit (and lots of extras) as a better starting point:
