I am about to partake in swapping my halogen headlights with a set of H4 headlights from my donor car.
I would like to know what items are necessary to make the switch complete, besides the obvious. Want to ensure the PO, had all the proper parts installed on his shark.
TIA <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

If they are true H4s then this should help:
<a href="http://www.billsworkshop.com/P928S4/h5toh4/h5toh4.htm" target="_blank">Bill Ball's Headlight Swap Tutorial</a>
The H4s were only installed on euro cars. The H5s have three glass 'nipples' on the face of the lens arranged in a triangle pattern (used to attach a headligh aiming device to). The H4s do not.
If you are swapping stock 7"ers with the chrome ring for 8" H5s you will need new H5 plugs.

Randy,
Thanks for the reply. Monday I will be disassembling the donor lights. I hope they include the correct wiring connections.
Once again, great write ups.

I doubt he has H4's unless that parts car was either a euro, or the PO had upgraded to H4's from the original H5's.
Doz, you didn't mention if your good car has stock 7" headlights, so this is all conjecture.

Randy-
i wasn't thinking he had 7" H4's, but that standard US 7" sealed beams use the same connector as H4's. you only have to swap connectors if H5's are stock.
Doz-
yep, just measure. or look: if your lights have a chrome (or painted) trim ring, they're 7".

The reason I think the donor shark has H4's are due to they have lenses that have H4 in the center of the lense, and the PO has two different bulbs in there. He stated they are H4's. Both sets of headlights, my shark and the donor shark have 7" lights.

well the 7" H4's are what *everyone* BUT 928 owners use for light swaps. our 8" lights are the oddballs. the 7" have the same pattern and are just as good, they just don't fill the hole/look as good.
BTW, since you're staying 7", you have to re-use the trim rings. that's what holds the light in...

Ah, all this time I was assuming Doz was upgrading to 8" lights. That's what happens when I give advice based on incomplete information.
Dave was on the right track all along.

i was too. but H4 is H4, doesn't matter if it's a 7" or 8" light, his car allready has the right connector...

Thanks for the help and replies. You'll are right about not all the info was given in my post. But I have been educated now in the headlight arena. I just had no clue.
The next question is, What determines what bulbs to use in the headlights, since the PO has 2 different ones in the H.lights.
