Post Bad fuel pump relay?

Hope theres some help out there - 2 flatbed rides this week. After changing fuel pump, she started and ran great, but just far enough to require the flatbed last night. Today it started and ran till it came up to temp, then died again, but I thought I heard a click from the open fuse panel. Per the archives, jumped terminals 30 and 87 on the fuel pump relay, started right up and will run all day in the driveway. Put the relay back, starts and runs for 10 seconds, dies, then no start at all.

Question - seem to have isolated an obvious bad fuel pump relay, but is there anything else I might be missing here?
Thanks in advance - 82US Auto

Before you replace the fuel pump, check the green wire that runs from terminal 16 on the ignition control box to terminal O7 on the bottom of the central power panel - this is what carries the "engine running" signal to the fuel pump relay.

Also make certain that plug "O" and all the other plugs are fully seated.

I had problems with my 79 not starting. I replaced the fuel pump relay, but, as it turns out, it was the fuse. YOu have to make sure that the fuse is making really good contact. Make sure the contacts are tight and clean. This cured my problem.

Thanks for the help. Turned out the relay fixed the problem, up and running strong again. Going to use a couple of terminals off the old relay to make up a jumper wire.

Poking around the central panel per Wally's advice I did notice I've been running without the 02 sensor plugged in for the last 6K miles. Don't notice very much performance change with it reconnected though. Oh, and my new fuel pump doesn't buzz like the old one, so not a total loss.
