Red face Help me, my 82 Wiessach shoots flames out the exhaust pipe!

I'm in some need of help here, my 1982 928 has a test pipe installed and no 02 sensor hooked up(yet). I've heard that all 928s run rich due to Porsche's factory settings to reduce detonation. Also, if there is a way to manually adjust the air/fuel mixture, how far do I need to adjust it to run it lean without the risk of detonation?

You can adjust the idle mixture screw behind the plug in the Air flow meter, or tighten up on the spring on the AFM flapper door (behind the black cover). Both of these are factory set and are really not to be messed with, unless you are making mods.

Before you do either, I suggest you install the O2 snesor and put the car back into closed loop to make sure it isn't something else....

I have not heard of Porsche's factory setting being overly rich.
