Car is an '89 GT. Driving around, stopped to get a coke and turned the car off. 2 minutes later started up and drove off. Realized that I had no instruments. Speedo, tach, fuel, temp and digital display all inop. However, backlight, turn signals, and volt meter work. Also noticed later that rear hatch is now inop as well as interior lights. AC, radio, headlights all ok. Any suggestions?

Given the suddenness of it, I did suspect the ignition switch. All the symptoms seem to relate to the ignition switch in one way or another.
