Impeller damage

Impeller damage
On page 12 of the Devek catalog, top R/H picture,shows a block with w/pump impeller damage. How much damage does it take to "ruin the block" and what type of problems/symptoms would it cause? Yes, mine has some damage there, but not to the extent pictured.

Anthony, I wish I had an answer for you but I don't. I was hoping Wally or Marc would have chimed in by now 
If yours is in question, I would call one or two of the Big 3 for a definitive answer.
