Mirror surrounds need replacing?

Mirror surrounds need replacing?
The 81 928S I just bought sat in the sun in florida seems like forever before the previous owner had it painted but of coarse he didn't change any of the soft parts such as the rear bumper pads and the mirror surrounds. If it's soft on the cars exterior it needs to be replaced. All the other parts I can find but the mirrors are a different story. Does both mirrors need to be replaced or can the foam rubber surrounds on them be replaced seperately? Also if anyone knows the correct term for these I'd appreciate to know what it is? Thanks, Jason

The black rubber surrounds are a seperate part with the motor IIRC.
I have some if you want to replace them.

The black rubber surrounds are a seperate part with the motor IIRC.

Roger and Imo I'm also looking for a center console trim piece. It's the piece that's usually cut for a aftermarket stero install. A cut one is ok? The one I have is sun warped. Thanks guys Jason

Ok got the mirror surrounds from Roger(Thanks again ) Now I need a tutorial on pulling the mirrors and rebuilding them. Anybody seen a tutorial? How about some pointers? Jason

Drifting
The mirror lenses just pop off. They're help in place by friction. Be careful though as it's easy to break the tabs that hold them on. Once the lenses are out of the way, there are 3 8mm bolts that hold the rubber part in place. Make sure you get the new parts on the correct sides as there are differences between the left and right assemblies.

If my memory serves me right you need to tilt the mirrors all the way towards the car and down (like you want to see your rear tire from the driver seat). Then GENTLY work the mirror lose, there is a small plastic ball socket that holds the mirror. If you have a flashlight you should be able to see it. Once that is disconnected the mirror and heating element should fall out of the housing.
If you have the black rubber housing you should be able to see the socket location. Once you have one appart you see that it is a 10 minute job at most. Now if you have to remove the entire housing from the door that is a different more painful story!
