Default What's it called and does it work?

It connects to the tranny brain and reprograms the (I believe) 86.5 and newer trannys to initially shift out of first instead of 2nd gear. What are they called? Who makes and sells them and how much? And what's the verdict?

Thanks

there is no brain for the transmissions in these cars for the auto or manual, the later cars had a controller for the differential.

I believe it is the B2 valve body that makes it start in second though I am not a slushbox expert.

Default Does this hellp?

this is a little box gizmo that wires into the car near the auto shift lever and if my memeory serves me right you program it with little number combination to affect when the car shift. A guy at a show showed me it but since it wasn't applicale to my year at the time I didn't pay close enough attention.

there is a lead from the ezk to the AT trans, iirc. it's related to the load for the kick down. it's also the one that one can jump and put a switch on to force the trans into 1st or hold off an upshift at partial throttle... jager makes a kit for those that like kits for stuff. I just have a toggle switch. works great at the track to keep the AT in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd w/out upshifting when at partial throttle into a turn acts just like a stick w/an automatic clutch.

iirc, there's also a valve body mod that steve cattano (sp?) does.. the AT was originally in MB turbo diesel trucks... pretty hard to destroy w/out some serious effort

hey H! hows it hanging?? got a beer w/your name on it for sharktoberfest!!

Thank you this looks like it. Does anyone know how well it works?

Launch from first gear, push to pass, full power, all at your command with the GTRSS kit.

In the final year of production, Porsche added a little transmission program to make the 928 more "sporting". Now we've developed a cool kit that will unleash the beast in the same way, but with you in control.

Fully compatible with all Jager and stock shifters, the GTRSS is an innovative kit that puts you in command of your driving style. By simply depressing the button of your TIP shifter, you can go from mild to wild. Aggressively launch from 1st gear, delay upshifts to stay in peak power range, and "push to pass" function when you need to clear civilian traffic.

The GTRSS kits comes complete with electrical parts, wiring harness, hardware and detailed instructions. Installs in about 2 hours.
