Post Let's support the racers...

Hi Michael, you're doing a sterling job bud. I've been lurking around the racer's site more often than I should, and I love it.

I predict your site will become massive if you keep up the good work. I also predict that 928's are bound to become serious track cars in time to come. (cheap compared to other Porsches and there are tons of donor cars around.)

Laugh if you want but hear me out...

People always looked at me like I was stupid when I said a 928 could be a good track tool if you do the right things to it... However, I believe (and predict) a new trend is about to start in the Porsche world. If the likes of DEVEK, Mark Anderson, Kim Krumb, Don Hanson and all others keep on embarrasing the big $$$ twin turbo's, things are bound to become very interesting.

And for the folks not interested in 928 track cars - It's in your interest to show interest.

If we manage to build a 928 track car vibe, a trend, you'll benefit from the development and mods will become more plentyfull and affordable, as is the case with our 944 brothers. Ultimately 928's will become more sought after and the value of our cars will go up.

So show some support and butter it now for tomorrow's jam. Just my 928 sense...

Or am being stupid or idealistic?

Idealistic.

I totally agree that Michael has done an OUTSTANDING job at
<a href="http://www.928trackcars.com/" target="_blank">http://www.928trackcars.com/</a>
This site was a GREAT idea, and is growing steadily with continuous development.
Kudos to Michael for his idea and hard work!

As more and more people build "track" cars and get them out there, the public
awareness will increase. As the cars get "sorted" and the results improve, racers
of the "traditional" Porsche models are also going to have an increased awareness
of the 928.... as are the sanctioning bodies/rule makers (which may NOT be a good thing).
Likely result: increasingly difficult racing "classification" and/or penalties
such as increased weight requirements.

Reality is that this is still (and will remain) an "uphill" battle. The racing
"establishment" does not want things turned upside down by people racing an
older model car long out of production and beating new, expensive currently
available cars. Simple truth.

Hat's off to the current group of 928 racers!!!
928 enthusiasts should get out there and attend these races, helping either
physically or by cheering loudly.... but give these folks some support!
Believe me, none of them are "getting rich" by racing 928's. <img src="graemlins/bigok.gif" border="0" alt="[thumbsup]" />
