Check the FP regulator and dampner. If the diaphrams are shot it'll suck fuel in through the vacuum system and will cause a very rich condition. Actually, witht he car running, you should beable to pull the vacuum line off and see if it spits fuel.

Thanks Kevin. I look at the Platinum +4 plugs and I'm thinking maybe they're just done after 6 years. I'm going to buy some in a few and report back.

It was old spark plugs. I saw they looked really dead ... basically just not coming back to life after wire brushing them. The centre electrode was not really visible. So I replaced them and Godzilla fired right up, blew some soot out the tailpipe and is rumbling smoothly.
