Wanted: Shifter boot base plate & rubber insulator
I have no clue what the part numbers are. The previous owner of my GT took the boot shifter plate out and apparently wants it as a keep sake
I have a nice replacement boot from Paul C. but need the base plate it fits around near the console. Also, the rubber insulator piece below that is less than perfect.
If someone has one or both of this parts in great condition, please let me know. Otherwise I will go check in my parts car downtown.

Even if someone doesn't have one to offer, if you could post the p/n it would help me. I need the base plate too. I heard that they are still available from Porsche.

I believe the base plate comes with the foam piece that goes under it. I replaced mine a couple years ago and only remember ordering a single part.
I got mine from 928 Specialists. I don't remember the part number off the top of my head (imagine that) but I think it was relatively cheap as 928 parts go.
Edit:
I think the part number is 928.552.017.00 for the shift boot plate and it's ~$20. And now that I read the OP again I think the rubber piece that's underneath is a separate part - can't help you with that.

While your in there I would change the rubber as well.
Example: Mine recently split down the middle and it's making shifting into first a bit more difficult. Seems the rubber folds itself into the 1st gear position and I need to force it into gear every once in a while. I was also under the impression that the rubber boot helps keep the heat out of the cabin.

Stan,
I've got a spare of the plastic base piece. The foam is long since disintegrated, but if you need the plastic piece it's yours.

There's the understatement of the year.
If you change your mind I can get it up to you in no time so you can put that nice shift boot on something.

You think I actually drive this car? I drove it @3 times before I had shifter cup failure. I am still working on clearing room in the garage to work on it. Of course I am planning on a dual disk upgrade at the same time. I hope I don't get tempted by an X pipe too....

1. GT2 prepared 928 race car more apart than together
2. Track/Street M3 more together than apart, but I will change that...
3. GT complete together but waiting for repairs & upgrades
By the way if I do too much with the GT, John Venninger will probably drive up here and slap me, since he wants me to be on the track competing with him.

Stan,
We all want you back on the track. I'm going down to Summit to watch John race next weekend, I wish there was more than one 928 competing.
And so what if you're lapping me, it means you have to be behind me at some point, right?
