By the way, of the Rennlisters there, we had me (duh), Andrew Olsen, Dennis Szeremet, Greggg, Brett, robmb, and Kirkg. Please correct me if I missed anyone!

Dozman, sorry to hear that you couldn't make it, but from the looks of this evening, next month will be even larger (assuming the garage queens make it in November )

What, are you Detroit guys a bunch of vampires - can't go out in the sunlight? You may need the long exposure vampire-cam to simulate daylight in your pics <img src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" border="0" alt="[hiha]" /> .

Looks like a good showing for a school night.

Randy:

The whole thing started several months ago with the suggestion that we all try to get together on the first Thursday of each month. With the number of people that showed up from as far away as Columbus, OH and Grand Rapids, MI (other side of state), Dennis and I suggest that next month's gathering happen on a weekend.

Although people were coming and going the whole time, I think we had about 20 or so sharks there.

The corvette engine belongs to "Bob", but I'm not sure of his Rennlist name (or if he has one). He's got a 5.7L decal on the side which may show up in one of the daylight photos. Not sure why he did it, but there's a helluva lot of room in the engine bay now, enough to easily insert a supercharger if he's so inclined.

There were many more cameras there than mine, so I'm hoping that they post links to their albums as well. I've got much higher resolution pics available if anyone wants one.

Showing up for the first time was quite an experience. I pulled in from the far end of the parking lot not knowing if anyone else had showed up. Then as I pulled around and saw the long line up of 928s, my jaw dropped. It is very common to see a large group of oil coolers parked together, and my wife fits into that group with her 82 911SC. It is a totally different sight to see 15 or more 928s on display. I almost turned around and headed for the car wash, my 86 gray 928 was not the cleanest since I had driven through the rain earlier.
I believe that the only way to top this experience is to head to NC next May for the 928 convention. Hopefully we can get a large contingency from our area to drive down together.

Ell & Mary, Big Dave, "Bob", Gregg, et al.

Last night was a blast! I had so much fun, I cannot wait for our next gathering. I was having so much fun I didn;t take any pictures, sorry.

With the crappy weather and being on a school night, I was truly impressed with the turnout! I'm still geeked up about it!

However, this morning, I could not believe how dirty my shark was. Looked like I took it to the spa, had a mud pack and left without rinsing!

When I got home last night the wife informed me that the minivan had a flat. So I told her I'd take care of it this AM which I did. It provided the perfect cover for quickly wasing up the shark. Ahhhhh that's better! For once I'm glad I had a flat. Just as I was putting this away, she poked her head out to ask what I was doing and why I was so wet????? (Think Andy, think!)
ME: "Ummmm I'm just finishing up. I was trying to find the leak on the tire with water.... and I needed a 'special' tool from behind the 928!"
HER: "Oh okay"
ME: "Whew!"

Had a great time Thursday. Good food & drink and some great sharks! Looking forward to next month.

The one with the Corvette engine is mine. Its an 80 Automatic with a 94 LT1 350. The original engine had numerous leaks after sitting for 5 years, so I figured why not? I enjoyed doing the work and learned quite a bit about the Shark and LT1s.
It came out pretty well & runs great.
Some pictures more pictures here, if you're interested.
