Alot has changed for me in the 4 years. I'm now a cam company and prefer to design valve timing for a specific engine and not screw around with adjustments.
I did actually make an indexable middle sprocket along the lines of what was talked about here but that was only because someone didn't get the relationship correct when grinding and my cams were way off. My split sprocket has held up well but it's not something I would do on purpose.
Are you thinking about a dynamically adjusting setup or a manual one to change when the engine's off?
