Post exhaust leak?

Greetings all,

I removed the belly pans for an unrelated repair and noticed that the exhaust pipe appears (black sooty deposits) to have leakage around the band clamps. I was told by one shop that this is normal and nothing to be concerned about. I would like to know if others here have the same situation.

cheers

The band clamps do seam to normally leak a tiny amount, nothing bad, but I've noticed the gaskets from the exhaust header to the rest of
the exhaust can start to look pretty sad and leak more then anything.

the flange gaskets have been redesigned...they are now a metallic gasket instead of rubbery/papery....I replaced mine when I put my x-over pipe on - they seem to seal very well.
