Don't know a '79 model at all, but with the Radio Shack looking blue crimp spade connector on it, it may be aftermarket alarm, or something

I think you might have pegged it. After following wires, nothing looked stock. So it's history. I better not hear how important it was, because it's now gone. Haha. I'm not driving this car enough!
