Default New one on me: Rear view mirror came off

So I'm driving to work this morning and go to adjust my rear view mirror and it comes off in my hand. No yanking, no pulling, just the slightest adjustment and I'm holding it. WTF? Ha ha...

Oh well, its off to the auto parts store after work for the glue kit.

Kinda cracked me up, thinking this is a first. -Ed

It's strange driving without one - a much better view forward, but at the cost of a much worse view back, huh?

Reminds me of the line from The Gumball Rally - "The first rule of Italian race car driving... what is behind you, she does-a not matter!!"

Thumbs up

Ed... after I paid and drove my 'shark' away, next morning I found,
after a new windshield glass & mirror installation by the seller,
the mirror on the cockpit floor. Gravity won, abetted by a poor glue
job. A quick trip to Autozone and a glue kit later, I have the mirror still
where it ought to be (four years later).

Clean the glass really well, hint, hint.

G'luck.

From another list I monitor a little. Synchronistic posts today.

"... the Merkur community has long known that the best double stick product for attaching our mirrors to the windshield.. better and cheaper than OEM Ford double sided mount tape....
3M Supermount Tape, READILY available at any Radio Shack
p/n 64-2361 ...
it is only $1.99 for a box of tape that will mount more than a dozen mirrors."

Macreel has this one. The mirror adhesive you buy at any auto parts store will, with a good glass cleaning regimen, stick that mirror in place for many, many years.

May I ask what you had for breakfast?
Luckily, this appears to be one of those nice quick fixes.
Good luck!

You guys are cracking me up.

And Mac, no doubt, the windshield will get a good cleaning as per the kit instructions. Remember, I'm an old hand at this!

And I don't think I got a pic of you or your car that day. My bad!

Bonus points for the first lister that can identify the well know rennlister in the first pic (Sorry Mac, you can't play as you were there that day).
