Just a short note to all to say thanks for all the information and tips. The CC just started working and seems to be ok. I really didn't do much except check the switch and the vacumn. I think I will just leave it alone for now, but do expect the problem to show up again sometime again at a later date.
Mahalo (thanks) and Aloha once again:

Just a thought on cruise control intermittents--

A while ago I was out cruising, and decided to activate the cruise control. I flicked the lever a few times quickly instead of the
normal once. No cruise function. Tried again, this time just once. No cruise function.

This bothered me enough that I decided to pull to the side of the road, shut down the engine (and therefore turn the power off to the brain...), then restart and go on with the ride. AIBM (as if by magic), the cruise worked fine.

So, think back to how you did the engage before it failed, and wonder as I do if that's all it was. Then wonder as I do why the darn thing doesn't seem to like a few quick pokes of the stalk, but loves a single one.

Always inquisitive...

Another jewel from the good doctor.

My CC is intermittent as well on rare occasion - more reliable after the fresh vacuum lines though.
