Hood Latch
I am having a problem with the hood latch on my '85 928. The release appears to be working fine, but the device within the bottom latch does not appear to be extending out far enough to latch the top latch when closed. Is this a replacement problem or is there something else I can do? I spayed the bottom latch with WD-40 and it came out a small amount, when the release was worked, but still not far enough. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Possible problems:
1) Frayed or rusty cable is holding the latch partially released. Bad situation - could lead to cable breakage.
2) Misadjusted cable.
