Much to my dismay, taking my 1986 through the touchless self serve car wash produced a significant amount of water from the upper corners of the windshield. I'll assume this is not normal (even though I know we aren't supposed to drive these cars i the rain or snow - not an option for me, living in the high country). Just need to reseal or should I be looking for something more serious?
Hope I'm not inundating you all with these initial problems.

Are you sure it came though the windshield seal or did it come in the sun roof? There are drains in the 4 corners under the sun roof because they never seal tight but the drains get plugged up and then it leaks.
I am assuming you have a sun roof. If so open the roof and try to fish a piece of string trimmer plastic line down the front drains. I think they come out under the cowl below the windshield.

No, it came for the corners of the windshield, no doubt and no leaks from the sunroof - but I will check the drains just to be sure, incase it was running down the headliner to those corners.

Hello Dennis and welcome to the board.
You can test the sunroof drains by pouring a small quantity of water gently into them and comfirming that it runs out the bottom. If it doesn't, the strimmer line Roger suggests works well to unblock the drains.
When I discovered my windshield was leaking it was in heavy rain on the eve of a very important function for the car. - Taking my daughter to her matric dance. I was able to seal the leak "temporarily" but very successfully by injecting black silicone sealant into the space under the top corners of the windshield trim. The repair is virtually invisible and two years later it's still there. Mainly because the only permanent fix is to have the windshield removed and resealed, but my local auto glass shops wanted me to accept liability if they broke it.

It is nearly impossible to remove the upper window trim without bending it unless you lever against the glass which then means you might break a $1,000 windshield.
