BMW Alusil Blocks

I understand that BMW uses Alusil blocks for V12's and 8's. (A change from the V8 nikosil disaster.) Do they use forged pistons? What coating do they use? Doesn't Mercedes use Alusil blocks?
Surely the forged pistons are coated with something that is not propietary.
Can't a piston manufacturer make custom forged pistons that we can have coated?

The 5-liter V12 puts out about 296hp, 332tq while the 5.4 is 320hp, 360tq. The new 6-liter, however, is nearly a full hundred up on each.
I wonder how common spare Merc 6-liter V12's are, they put out about 398 horses. Probably not cheap though.
