928 BROTHERS: How to Install Sound Insulation???

Hi 928 Brothers:
Thanks for the info. in the Dynamat thread below. I found a product called WeatherAll sp? at Lowes. They have 2 grades of stuff for doing "ice guard" work. One grade looks like stuff you stick onto a skateboard. The other is a little thicker, and has perpendicular raised lines on the nonadhesive side. I like number 2. Does this sound like your ice guard?
Most importantly, where do you install the stuff? Does it increase the resale value?

Yep. It's very simple. Their are two ways. 1. Mold it with a heat gun, next apply contact cement glue on the under side - let dry over night. 2. Or you can use a little blow torch to melt it on. It will be a little smelly at first but, go away in about a week. For the doors, I would use the thinner material. It's a little harder but worth it. Both ways, it will be transparent once the carpet is placed. And your car will be very -hush,hush-.
I would remove the seats and put all over the floor and back . Don't put any by the battery or spare tire section. Just over the gas tank area. If you put it where the spare tire goes, you won't be able to put it back in.
As far as resale value, it depends. If your car is perfect, it won't. But if your car has weird noises coming from the tranny, it will hide it. Making it "sellable". It has the potential to hide many mechanical problems. If you are installing an expensive stereo system, you also need this stuff.
Hope this helps.
