Default Rattling

At idle, there is a very noticeable "rattle" which appears to be coming from underneath the car (85 auto) which I think may be the driveshaft. Fairly certain it is not coming from the engine. Stepping on the gas and raising the rpms causes the rattle to go away. Assuming I am thinking along the right lines is there any type of common or logical problem that would cause something to loosen and cause this rattleI I'm seeing a Porsche mechanic in the next 48 hours and would like to be able suggest some possibilities.

Thanks!

Getting the car on a lift, for underside inspection while it is running is the best means to determine the cause. Paying a shop for their "lift services", by way of using their lift to elevate it, as you inspect and they stand by contemplatively is a very expensive solution for these exotic and aging cars. Shops charge $90 per hr upwards. I did that for a bit and dicovered that I could have paid for Porken's lift bars after a few of these exercises. Without your own lift, I would suggest buying Porken's liftbars (www.liftbars.com) and getting to know the owner community local to you.

Good luck;

Mike

Read this post. Especially post #15. This is how I ultimately found my rattle. I had to tap on the allen wrench with a rubber mallet to produce the annoying rattle.

well you should lift the car with it in drive and in neural with the engine running, you might have a loose heat shield, a loose E brake cable a loose set of pinch bolts on the drive shaft or the worst is a bad set of rivets on your torque converter flywheel, check the CV joints for loose screws
