are any of the toggles (window, sunroof, rear wiper) or the auto shifter positions in the console supposed to be backlit? i am a new owner of an '86 S and have no idea. i just know it's hard to find unfamiliar things in the dark.

the toggles were never lit, but the auto trans did have back lighting which was discontinued when the gear selection lights on the dash came about (sometime in the s4 era i think). it's easy to retrofit a light kit to the auto trans shifter. parts cost about $25, takes 20 minutes to do.

 

thanks tom, i do have the indicator lights on the dash. was just curious. i'll have to look into the retrofit though. i'm used to looking there for gear selection.
