Post Detailing Ideas.

As a detailer I always look at the bigger picture (the image a car projects) before I make improvents to the look of a car. Then I consider all the subtle enhancements that would compliment each other in order to achieve the over-all look I'm going for. I think of it as a symphony - every little detail must work in harmony for the over-all image to be correct and tastefull. (Nicole will probably understand this)

My opinion is that, no matter how small or big and regardless of the money you spend, any enhancement on a car must contribute to the over-all image to be an improvement. For instance, you can go out and buy the most expensive set of rims you can find, stick them on your car and they just look wrong. So, no matter how expensive they are, if they don't suit the over-all styling of the car (and the image the car projects) it's not an improvement and that means you've just wasted your money and you're distracting from the look of your car...

Yes, we all have our individual preferences when it comes to enhancement, but in the end the image your car projects is in the eye of the beholder and since you display your Shark freely, the 'beholder' is each and every person looking at your car.

Here's an idea on rims. IMHO the silver colors on OEM rims and even aftermarket rims are too dark a shade of silver, so when I bought cup2's for FAT BULLY, I had them resprayed with 6 coats of a much brighter shade of silver before I fitted them. It looks great. You can park another Porsche next to mine, but people always tell me my car looks better. Ask them why and they can't tell you. 'I don't know, there's something about the BULLY that I can't quite put my finger on, but it looks better than that other Porsche..'

Wouldn't you like it when someone tells you that when your shark is parked next to a late model Porsche? Start fiddling with the little things and look for subtle enhancement that fits in with the rest your car... Take a carefull look at the pic below. The silver area of the centre cap is the color aftermarket cup2's come with. Can you see the brighter shade of silver I sprayed the rims? When you stand away from the car the effect is huge, the wheels show up much more and they still look 'Porsche'...

Get my drift?

My point is we all have our own little secrets when it comes to styling and detailing our Sharks, right? So how about starting a thread for each detailing subject and share ideas? Maybe Randy could manage an archive for future reference.

Very nice. I was going to do the same. Makes your rims look like 18" rims not 17". I also love the blue brigestone sticker. The brightest silver on the market right now is the VW's. It's also the same silver as the new Audi's. I can also take care of those scraches too.
Here is one that I haven't seen before. I would not go with the gold sign but, I would go with an aluminum one. By the way, the tacked on fender lip on this pic is for the asian market.
