I have 2 89 S4's (one auto, one 5 spd) and the supercharged 84 S is much more fun to drive than either S4 - but, that is only when the supercharger unit is not broken, which is hardly never.....going to change units from Powerdyne to Vortec and see if that changes my luck. The 84 w/supercharger is smooth, powerful, responsive and predictable - it is literally a gas to drive. While I love my S4s, there is something about the 84 that makes it more fun than the the 89's - but, all that being said, if you can find a 32 valve, get it, stoke it and stuff the supercharger.....

Oh come on now, how can you say that? Powerdynes work great!
That is, until you ask them to perform, and then they blow and never work again.
(And sometimes they will even overheat and overspool in the box on a UPS truck, too.)
My total cost was $1000 and that included everything. The only thing I re used from the Trans Ams kit was the supercharger and the belt tensioner(worth about $500) and spent another $500 on the rest of the stuff (FMU, K&N filter, pipes, pulley, steel for the bracket, clamps,etc.).
It takes a lot of fabricating and time, but mostly time and ofclurse the deletion of the AC.
My headgastet went last year and slowly working on replacing it but it wasn't really caused by the SC. It was a failing injector and boost that probalby did it.
Feel free to look at the SC build page or send a PM if you want. Click on the link in my signature bellow.
