Smile Nicole, tips on a good place to start my quest ?

I also live in the Bay Area and I plan on purchasing a 928 within the next 6 months. I have been checking out all of the related websites and this board for the last few months. I am wondering what would be a good get together for 928 owners in the area so that I may see what are good examples of these cars. I am mainly interested in a late S or early S4. Thanks for your time.

Good choice!! You just missed the Devek Days get together which had over 100 cars on Saturday, about half that on Sunday for the ride and drive.

Way down here in SoCal a bunch of us are having a small getogether on Dec 2nd and Dec 16th. It's a fair mix of S and S4's with the occasional GTS thrown in.

Since you're fairly close, I suggest you take a field trip one day and wander over to DEVEK (248 Harbor Blvd., Belmont). They're just off Highway 101 (Ralston/Harbor exit).
At any given point in time, they have mild to wild 928's there. It'd be worth your time from an educational perspective. Good luck!

Hi:

You probably picked the best time to buy a 928 in the Bay Area. I hear that the local economy has some owners desperate to sell theirs. But DO make sure you get a good pre-purchase inspection before you buy. Repairs can be quite expensive - especially around here with the high hourly rates of Porsche mechanics.

There is no immediate 928 gathering planned. However, we are discussing to organize a monthly one - either on a weekday evening or on Saturday. E-mail Bill Ball at billb_msn@msn.com and tell him I sent you. He will put you on the mailing list.

The other good local resource is DEVEK Performance in Belmont. They are THE 928 authority in the Bay Area - totally specialized on the 928. A chat with Susan, Mark or Jim can be very educating. Their website is www.devek.net. Sometimes they have interesting used 928s on their site. Call them - sometimes they can direct you to people who want to sell theirs.

A client of mine is getting ready to sell his '84 5-Speed. Last time I saw it, it looked super clean. It has an upgraded stereo and BBS rims. I believe it has around 70k miles. I'm waiting to get more details from him, then I'm going to post it here.

Have you seen Phil Tong's website www.928s4vr.com? Phil lives in San Francisco and owns a white '90 928 GT.

I found my car on www.cars.com. I lliked it because it did not have as much hype as some of the other internet resources. However, lots of people have found good deals at autotrader.com, wwwheels.com or ebay.com. I believe there is also a classified section on the rennlist.

If you need anybody to go check out a car, post it here. There are plenty of enthusiasts around who would be glad to help you out.

Best of luck!

Hi, all. I just (took it home last week!) found my '82 on Yahoo classifieds at http://autos.yahoo.com/. There were a half dozen or so others last I checked.

Good luck on your search, and I would definately watch the yahoo classifieds in the SFO area. That's where I found my car, and most of the 928 ads on it were very Bay-centric, at least when I was looking.

Jessa: Congratulations! Please don't forget to email Bill Ball, so he can put you on the Bay Area shark owners mailing list! (see link in my initial post).

Mike: I am from the Suttgart Airport area (Ostfildern, South of the city). Winnenden is not too far on the opposite side of the city. I've been there a couple of times...
