Please help in locating 928 capable bodyshop in NJ
Can anyone assist me in locating a good bodyshop / repair place in NJ or Metro New York for repair to an -- alas -- rather severely damaged 1991 928?
I do have access to some decent shops, but none of them have any real experience with 928s.
The accident was Tuesday, so I would need to find something sooner than later.
Any help you can give is much appreciated, as I would like to prevent the car from being declared a total or even badly repaired.
Please reply here or also to gruntree@web.de
Thanks to all, Carsten

You're going to be hard pressed to find shops that are experienced with 928s as there simply weren't very many of them floating around so no one specific shop would have likely worked on them. You're better bet would be to find a shop that specializes in high-end, high-quality work. If you go to www.autobodystore.com
the guy who runs the site is named Len (that's his screen name as well.) He is very experienced in Porsches of all varieties. He uses Glasurit paints almost exclusively. He does a lot of restoration work as well and he's located somewhere in NJ. Go to that site, look him, and talk to him. You may have to register but that only takes a few minutes, and it shoud be worth your while.

Carsten,
Going to be difficult to find a shop that has already repaired a 928. A good shop should be able to do it.
The main concern is them totaling it and frame damage.
928 parts are still priced at Porsche prices.
Go to the local Porsche dealer and asked them were they take their cars for repair.

Exactly as has already been said - find a reputable body shop who can straighten the front frame. Use prices for replacement used parts - fender + bumper and whatever else. I can give you prices for used parts - even better check out 928 International. Talk to Mark or Jim. Do not use new prices as they will total it.
Your car sounds to good to total so work with the insurrance company to not do that.
