Default Hatch back motor - Problem fixed

Hi guys.

I have a problem with my hatch back motor. Nothing new there!!

When I pull the switch (both side), It works but does not stop.

I can hear that it "wants" to stop but starts back right after and it keeps going on, and on, and on... Until I remove the fuse(#26) or close the door.

I know there is a cut-out in the metal disk inside the motor to make it stop.

It looks like it over-runs that section.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It's a used motor I bought to replace the one I had. It was working well exept it was very noisy. Now It looks I have another problem with that f... motor.

there are two fuses one for the motor and one for the stopping of the motor.
Check your fuses again.

I'm quite sure they are good but I'll double check that. Thanks.

Neither fuse affects the stopping - only the "Initiation" with the pull & the "continuing" until the park position.

The symptoms you have suggest you need to clean the track. take the motor out and dissassemble - its easy - you will see the track - clean it with a cotton bud & isopropyl alcohol or similar. I like to use potentiometer lube on the track - but its not a very common thing to find - WD40 would probably be OK as a lubricant here - this is very low current. Lubricate the gears for the noise too.

Just go down the list until something works...

1) Clean the disk.
2) Pack the gears with thick grease.
3) Increase the size of the cut-out portion on the disk.
4) Add a resistor to the run power lead.

Alan: I will try that this afternoon. Already been there so it should not be a problem.

I cleaned the disk and tried to increase the cut-out portion to 1/4.
It was better but not enought. So I tried 1/2 (see pic) of it and... It worked

Now the question is for how long?

Thank you all for your help.

Reviving this thread. My hatch motor acts like it has a Duracell battery installed.

How exactly is the cut-out widened? Looks like Bertrand used some tape. Any other methods?

Alan, Wow!! I somehow missed that thread. Thank you for the detailed documentation - downloaded and saved for one day when I need it. I am always amazed at the ingenuity and creativity that goes into problem solving on this forum.

Aryan,

I used some computer cut vinyl.
Got the equipment here.
I guess you can use electric tape and cut it with an exacto knife.

By the way, still working perfectly after seven years.
