Post fair price for a '89 5-speed?

Looking at a '89 5-speed tomorrow. about 80K on it, tb/wp and clutch done at about 70K. I know the 5-speeds tend to go for more since they are more rare...what's a fair price for such a car assuming it is clean, good records, clean PPI?

Wink

If it's an S4 I'd say around $18-$20k

GT around $23-$27k all depending on the service history being clean & inspection by a knowledgeable 928 mech...the inspection is crucial because of all the hidden stuff like leaks & big jobs coming up around that kind of mileage...not to scare ya, just get it inspected & work the price down from there...

If it were me....I'd check the last four of the VIN - if >1000 = GT (a very rare find today!)

If it is indeed a GT - and the owner thinks it is an S4 - well, let your concious be your guide.

forgot to mention, did see a few GT's in southern california for low $20k's, mostly around 100k miles(one even was original owner). the super clean showroom types though are going for $25k+. $18 to $20k seem right for a clean S4.
