Headers + Autothority chips...any benefits?
I have a set of Autothority chips and was considering installing them in the 87 S-4. I have the Devek Level II headers, adjustable FPR, 3.5" exhaust....will there be any benefit to adding the chips? Any potential problems/concerns? Does anybody else have this set-up, with a before chips and after chips comparison? Will the chips make a significant difference in smog results? (Ca. smog can be a bitch)
Any other thoughts are appreciated. I read up on past posts, they seem to be positive with regards to the 85-86 928's, and somewhat less impressive on the 87+ 928's. So I'm specifically interested in the results with headers.
Thanks in advance,
Rich

This would make things interesting.....but could also be very very bad....with the higher flow out of your engine....added to the increased timing of the chip...could end up quite lean? Which of course is easy to fix with the fuel pressure....but how would you know how much to add? Custom Sharktuning is best....but far more difficult? Could just plug it in...bump up the fuel pressure a shade...take it out and see how it runs?

The 85/86 cars can pick up some useful gains, especially on the igntion side, due to the very conservative timing Porsche used, because of the absence of a knock control system.
I recently SharkTuned my EZ-F in my 86 Euro 16v and picked up some useful gains in WOT 30-90mph timed runs.
The S4 and later cars have far less potential for tuning. You can certainly pick up to 10HP at the top, and crisper, smoother mid range by SharkTuning, in addition to what your X pipe has given.

A lot of these chips raise the rev limit. Sounds nice, but not good for the bearings. Why don't you give Autothority a call ? I have spoken to them in the past, and they are pretty helpful .
