5 Speed shifter - not very smooth
#16
well the only thing I've leraned for sure is that I can't live with the tranny as is. The next decision will be to rebuild or replace and I need some more info to make that decision.
A couple of questions for the guys who have rebuilt the older boxes:
1) If you did yourself, how hard was it?
2) What improved? (grinding gone only, smooter shifting or other?)
3) What parts were replaced? (1,2,3 gear syncros? All parts, select parts?)
4) anyone look into upgradding to the newer boxes?
Thanks

I agree - I have an early (78) 5 speed and the second gear synchro is all but gone. Do you guys recommend rebuilding them yourself, or shipping it in as a core/exchange for a Devek/928 Int'l rebuilt unit? Does anybody know where I can buy a 5-speed used?
